The time changes matter. MLB moved Thursday’s ALCS Game 3 in Cleveland from its originally announced 6:00 p.m. EDT start to 1:00 p.m. EDT, and moved that night’s NLCS Game 4 in Los Angeles from 9:00 p.m. ET to 8:00 p.m. ET. The Brewers carried a 2–0 lead from Milwaukee to Dodger Stadium, then won Games 3 and 4 to complete a four-game sweep. The final two scores were 6–2 and 6–4. The result ended the Dodgers’ season and sent Milwaukee to the World Series, its first appearance since 1982. The series had been a rematch of the prior year’s NLCS, but this time Milwaukee controlled all four games.
That sweep changes the rest of the week’s MLB postseason schedule. A potential NLCS Game 5 on Friday and Game 6 in Milwaukee on Sunday, October 18, will not be played. Those dates were conditional on the series continuing; Milwaukee won the fourth game before either could happen. The official World Series overview now lists the Brewers as the National League representative. The Fall Classic is scheduled to begin Friday, October 23, with Milwaukee holding home-field advantage.
The American League race is still live. Cleveland won the opener 7–3 in Tampa, the Rays answered with a 3–1 win in Game 2, and the Guardians took Game 3 by 3–2 in Cleveland. That puts the Guardians ahead 2–1 entering Friday’s Game 4 at Progressive Field. Thursday’s game was moved to an afternoon start; MLB’s recap says Cleveland’s two-run homer in the fifth supplied the lead in a low-scoring game.
Game 4 is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. EDT in Cleveland on Friday, October 16 (12:00 a.m. UTC on Saturday, October 17). The Rays vs. Guardians game will air on TBS and truTV, with streaming options listed by MLB. Tampa needs a win to even the series at two games apiece; a Cleveland win would put the Guardians one victory from the pennant.
Game 5 is scheduled for Saturday, October 17, at 8:00 p.m. EDT in Cleveland (12:00 a.m. UTC on Sunday, October 18). Given the 2–1 series score before Game 4, Game 5 is on the schedule regardless of Friday’s result: either team would still need another win afterward to reach four. Each League Championship Series is a best-of-seven matchup: the first club to win four games advances to the World Series. The schedule includes possible dates in advance, but an “if necessary” game disappears as soon as one team has clinched. That is why the Brewers’ sweep removed the NLCS dates that remained on the original calendar.
