Worlds 2026: Team Secret Whales vs. LYON Match Update

Updated October 24, 2026: Team Secret Whales and LYON are listed against each other in Round 1 of the League of Legends World Championship 2026 Swiss Stage. Riot’s schedule set the best-of-one match for 00:00 UTC on Saturday, October 24, which is 7:00 p.m. Central Daylight Time (CDT, UTC−05:00) on Friday, October 23, in Allen, Texas. That scheduled start has passed. Riot’s current Swiss bracket still shows the pairing without a completed match score or winner, so this update does not report a final result.

What time was Team Secret Whales vs. LYON scheduled to start?

The match listing gives a start of 00:00 UTC on October 24. At the venue in Allen, Texas, that converts to 7:00 p.m. CDT (UTC−05:00) on Friday, October 23. The local date falls on the previous calendar day because the scheduled time is just after midnight UTC. Readers comparing calendars should keep the date and zone together: the UTC listing says Saturday, while Allen’s clock says Friday evening.

Allen is on Central Daylight Time on October 23. Under the current U.S. daylight-saving schedule, the 2026 change back to standard time occurs on the first Sunday in November, so the match’s Allen offset is UTC−05:00. Riot’s venue announcement gives noon CDT as the broadcast start for the Texas Swiss Stage dates October 23–26. That is the stage broadcast window; the individual TSW–LYON fixture listing gives this match’s later scheduled start as 7:00 p.m. CDT.

What the Round 1 BO1 means

This is a Swiss Stage opening match, not a knockout game. A best-of-one means the matchup is decided by one game. The teams do not have a second or third game in this series to recover from a loss. The result will affect each team’s Swiss record, but a Round 1 loss alone does not eliminate either team.

Riot’s Worlds 2026 primer describes a five-round Swiss phase. Teams need three match wins to reach the Knockout Stage, while three losses result in elimination. Starting with Round 2, teams are drawn against opponents with the same record, and they will not be matched against an opponent they have already faced in the Swiss Stage. That makes the opener consequential for the next draw: its winner should enter the next pairing round in the 1–0 group, and its loser in the 0–1 group, once the result is recorded.

The Round 1 draw also pairs teams from different regions. Riot lists Team Secret Whales as an Asia-Pacific LCP representative and LYON as a North American LCS representative. The primer says the first-round draw matched Tier 2 teams against Tier 3 teams and avoided same-region pairings. It lists TSW in Tier 2 and LYON in Tier 3. This explains the cross-region pairing without implying anything about either team’s chances or in-game strategy.

What are the teams’ listed rosters?

Riot’s team pages list Dire, Eddie, Hizto, Bie, and Pun for Team Secret Whales. LYON’s team page lists Dhokla, Inspired, Berserker, Isles, and Saint. These are team roster listings, included here as background for readers following the matchup.

A roster page is not a match sheet. The official tournament pages checked for this update do not identify a match-specific starting five, substitutions, or which listed players took part in this game. For that reason, the names above should not be read as a confirmed starting lineup. Riot’s bracket also does not currently provide a final score for this pairing. The current record display is not enough to identify a winner or infer what happened during the game.

Where to check the result and follow the Swiss Stage

Riot’s LoL Esports schedule is the official place to check match listings and broadcast information. The Worlds 2026 Swiss standings and bracket is the relevant page for a score, recorded result, and the teams’ next Swiss records. As of this update, the bracket lists Team Secret Whales and LYON in Round 1 but does not show a completed score for their pairing. No winner is reported here until the official listing records one.

For the venue, Riot identifies the Credit Union of Texas Event Center in Allen, Texas as the host for the Swiss Stage. Its Worlds 2026 venue and event policies page covers attendee information, including venue rules. Viewers outside Texas should use the UTC timestamp or convert it for their own location rather than treating Allen’s time as a universal broadcast time.
